4. Focus on your breath. Pay attention to its natural rhythm and how you inhale and exhale.

5. Pay attention to your thoughts. It is okay for your mind to wander if you are new to meditating. Simply keep track of it and bring your focus back on your breath.

6. Keep meditating for as long as you have set a time limit. Count your breaths, and bring back your focus as many times as needed.

If you are a morning person, it would be great to make meditation a part of your morning routine. Meditating in the morning is a great way to start off your day with a clear mind. Additionally, you never know how your day will go. It may be too hectic and leave you with no time for meditation. So, crossing it off your list first thing in the morning is a better choice.

But if morning meditation is not your thing, make sure to set a time for it during the day and commit to doing it. This is how you will establish meditation as a habit.

Create a Comfortable Space for Yourself

Sit Comfortably and Start with Deep Breaths

As noted earlier, you should get into a comfortable sitting position to be able to meditate without distractions. There are different meditations postures you can try to find out the one that works best for you. You can sit in a lotus pose with your legs crossed, lie down, walk, sit on a chair, etc.

Also, start your meditation session with a few deep breaths. Deep breaths send a message to the brain and trigger the relaxation response. As a result, you feel calm and relaxed. As you start the actual process of meditating, return your breath to its normal pace.

Try to keep your spine straight. Not only does it create mind and body alertness and supports proper breathing function, but it also allows for free energy flow.
